How to Search Orange County Court Records and Cases

The official online search is my eClerk. Users can search by party name, business name, case number, citation number, case type or date range. Name searches require both first and last name. Anonymous users must complete a CAPTCHA for each search.

  1. Go to the Orange County Clerk of Courts website and select Search Records.
  2. Enter the most precise information available; a case or citation number is usually best.
  3. Use case type or date fields if a common name produces too many matches.
  4. Open the matching result to review docket entries and documents available for public viewing.

Online docket information is available for most cases filed from about 1990 to the present, while documents are available from 2009 onward for most case types. Searches return no more than the first 500 results. Confidential, sealed, juvenile and certain sensitive records have restricted access.

How to Request Copies of Court Records

If a needed document is not available online, records may be requested online, by mail or in person. A mailed request should include the case number, party name, date of birth, document requested and year or years to search. Send it to Orange County Clerk of Courts, 425 N. Orange Ave., Suite 150, Orlando, FL 32801. The Clerk says it will contact mail requesters within approximately 10 business days.

Other Services Available Through the Clerk

The office also handles civil and small-claims matters, evictions, foreclosures, criminal and traffic payments, family cases, child support, probate, guardianship, marriage licenses, passports, restraining-order filings, sealing and expungement matters, and self-help services. Eligible traffic tickets and some criminal cases can be paid online.

Court Records vs. Property Records

The Clerk’s my eClerk system is for court cases. Deeds, mortgages, liens and similar property-related records are generally handled through other Orange County offices, including the Comptroller. If a property document does not appear in a court search, this distinction may be the reason.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why can I see a case entry but not the actual document online?

Some older documents have not been digitized, while sensitive documents may require review or redaction. Because electronic scanning began in 2009, older cases may show docket information without an online document image.

Q. Can a party to a case get more online access than the general public?

Yes. A case party can register for expanded access and complete the required verification process. Access remains subject to Florida rules protecting confidential records.

Q. What should I do if a name search returns too many results?

Add a middle name, case type, date range or other known details. If available, use the case or citation number. This is especially important because search results are limited to 500 matches.

Q. Can I obtain an unredacted document online?

No. Online documents are redacted to protect confidential information. An eligible case party seeking an unredacted copy may need to visit the courthouse with valid government-issued identification for verification.

Q. Why is my deed or mortgage missing from the court-record search?

Deeds and mortgages are property records rather than ordinary court-case records. They are generally searched through the Orange County Comptroller, not the Clerk’s my eClerk case database.
